Skill development
Our experienced instructors will help you practice and develop your dive skills so they are of demonstration quality. From regulator clearing through to buoyancy skills - you will reach instructor level of confidence for your demonstrations, guided by instructors who have taught thousands of courses between them.
MappingÂ
You will map a dive site, learning what information is important for a dive map, how to map it, and how to recognize and explain hazards to divers. Not only does this exercise increase your awareness of your surroundings, it works on your buddy communication skills, teamwork and dive planning and execution.
Dive Theory
A good divemaster has a well-developed understanding of dive theory from physics and physiology to equipment and fish ID. Our divemaster course offers training beyond that of the PADI requirements to ensure that you finish your course a well-rounded and knowledgeable divemaster and guide.Â
Practice guidingÂ
The role of a divemaster will vary depending on many things, your location, the dive centre requirements, and the type of diving you are doing. Part of the joy of being a divemaster is guiding people in the water, sharing your passion for the underwater world and inspiring people to want to protect our oceans. With the divemaster training in Komodo, you will practice guiding our instructors who will role-play the typical (and not so typical) problems they have encountered whilst guiding. This will give you a chance to build your confidence and learn to recognize small issues before they become a problem.Â
Assist courses
You will assist instructors when they teach courses from Open Water through to Rescue. This gives you a chance to see how instructors deal with any problems students have and will give you the opportunity to put some of your newly developed skills into action.
