Indonesia lies in the heart of the coral triangle, the most biodiverse place in the world. The unique topography of the country, filled with dramatic landscapes and towering volcanoes continues beneath the water - meaning there are deep sea trenches, stunning sea pinnacles and beautiful underwater seascapes to explore.

Rare marine life such as molas, mantas, dugongs, guitar sharks, pygmy seahorses, tiny cephalopods and bizarre nudibranchs fill the waters here - there truly is something for every level of diver to enjoy! Not only that, but with mantas rays being protected in all Indonesian waters, it is the largest manta ray sanctuary in the world! Here at Scuba Junkie we are offering you the chance to combine two of the best diving destinations in Indonesian into one epic diving trip with the exclusive Komodo-Penida combo package!

Why visit Nusa Penida Marine Protected Area?

Nusa Penida sits on the edge of the Lombok strait, the nutrient rich waters of which bring in bizarre and incredible megafauna all year round! Throughout the year manta rays frequent the sites in the South of the island and the worlds largest bony fish - Mola Alexandrini - visit from the depths during the months of June - November due to the colder water coming in. Reef sharks and turtles can be seen throughout the year, plus larger pelagics such as whale sharks, thresher sharks and wobbegongs can also be seen. If smaller species are more your vibe then there is an incredible array of nudibranchs, crustaceans and cephlopods to seek out!

Let’s not forget the thrilling currents! Whether you’re a current junkie or new of this style of diving, our experience and professional crew are ready to take you on an exhilarating diving adenture! The island itself is stepped in spiritual history and has stunning rugged coastline. The vibe of the island is perfect for the chilled out traveller who is excited to explore indonesia above and below the water! Think templates, stunning views, natural infinity pool and secluded beaches! Adventures await both underwater and on land.

how to travel between the two locations

waves

Nusa Penida and Komodo make a fantastic combo package because they are just a hop skip and a jump away from each other!

Nusa Penida lies just a short boat ride away from Bali. Bali has an international and domestic airport making it easy to get to from around the world! From Bali (DPS) you can catch a short flight over to Labuan Bajo (LBJ) which is the closest airport to the Scuba Junkie Komodo resort. Travelling from Nusa Penida to Scuba Junkie Komodo can be done in just one day!

Getting to Nusa Penida
Once you land in Bali it’s just a 30-40minute taxi to get to the port of Sanur beach, from here you can get a boat for a further 30-40 minutes to get to Nusa Penida. If you want to get to Nusa Penida on the same day that you arrive in Bali then you need to land by 2.30pm in DPS.

Getting to Scuba Junkie Komodo
Once you land in Labaun Bajo it is just a 10 minute taxi drive to where the Scuba Junkie transfer boat departs from. The scenic boat ride to the resort takes around one hour and will give you a great opportunity to soak up the stunning landscapes. You need to land in Labuan Bajo by 2pm to get to the resort on the same day as landing.

suggested itinerary

Here's our suggested itinerary to get the most diving days out of your combo trip:

Day 1 - Fly into Bali (DPS) - Arrive by 2:30pm - boat transfer to Nusa Penida and check in to Scuba Junkie Penida
Day 2 - Diving Nusa Penida MPA
Day 3 - Diving Nusa Penida MPA
Day 4 - Diving Nusa Penida MPA
Day 5 - Diving Nusa Penida MPA
Day 6 - Check out - early boat from Nusa Penida to Bali - taxi to the airport - fly to Labuan Bajo landing by 1pm - transfer to Scuba Junkie Komodo and check in
Day 7 - Diving Komodo NP
Day 8 - Diving Komodo NP
Day 9 - Diving Komodo NP
Day 10 - Diving Komodo NP
Day 11 - Check out - Komodo Dragon tour on Rinca island - return to Labuan Bajo (you can book a flight departing at 3pm or later)
TOTAL 6D/5N (4 days diving with 12 dives) Nusa Penida and 6D/5N (4 days diving with 12 dives) Komodo.

Here you can see the best flight times to take from Bali to Labuan bajo to be able to travel between the two resorts on the same day. It is possible to start your trip in Komodo, however given that most people want to do the dragon tour on their check out day it means you cannot get from Komodo-Penida in one day. This would mean an extra night in Bali in the middle of your trip - which is no problem at all!

If you’d like a custom package put together for you with longer or shorter stays in each locations then feel free to get in touch for a customer quote!
